4.0 Network Topology Diagram (Star Topology)

4.1 Topology Choice: Star Topology

The Mango Gaming Hub will use the Star Topology. Every item in this setup, including wireless access points, PCs, and printers, is directly connected to a central switch.

  • Reliability: Only the connected device will be impacted by a single cable failure; the network as a whole will carry on as usual.
  • Scalability: It is simple to add more devices by connecting them to the switch without disrupting already-existing connections.
  • Performance: Compared to bus or ring topologies, data is sent directly between the switch and the destination device, reducing collisions.
  • Management: Network monitoring, upkeep, and troubleshooting are made easier by centralized control via the switch.

4.2 Communication Media

- Cat6 UTP Wired Network (LAN)

Category 6 (Cat6) All internal electrical connections are made using unshielded twisted pair wires. Cat6 reduces crosstalk and enables Gigabit Ethernet rates of up to 1000 Mbps across 100-meter distances, guaranteeing fluid and low-latency gaming gameplay.

Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) is a wireless network (WLAN).

A Ubiquiti UniFi 6 Lite Access Point offers wireless connectivity. It is perfect for laptops and mobile devices since it provides high data throughput and effectively handles numerous connections at once.

Fiber Optic Internet Connection (WAN)

Fiber optic cabling, which provides high bandwidth, low latency, and robust resistance to electromagnetic interference, is used to link the router to the Internet service provider (Unifi).

4.3 Networking Devices

To efficiently manage network traffic, the following hardware elements are included:

Router: Acts as a conduit between the Internet service provider (ISP) and the local area network (LAN). Network Address Translation (NAT) and IP routing are handled by it.

Installing a firewall between the router and switch protects the cyber café from outside dangers by monitoring and controlling network traffic in accordance with security regulations.

24-Port Gigabit Switch: Serves as the main hub of the star architecture, guaranteeing collision-free data transfer and allocating specific bandwidth to every connected device.

Server: A centralized system for managing a cyber café, including software upgrades, billing, and session scheduling.

Wireless Access Point (WAP): Expands the wired network by giving laptops and mobile devices Wi-Fi connectivity.

Client PCs (PC1–PC12): Customers can use these high-performance workstations for productivity and gaming.
